Wow, can you believe we’re at the end of Self-Care Sunday? This week, we’re chatting about reading and reflections.
I loved this series because I haven’t been the best at practicing self-care and it was nice to share what’s now working for me. I used to think it was simply pampering myself with shopping sprees and nail salon days. But self-care is so much more than that!
I shared my therapy experience in the first volume of Self-Care Sunday. I also shared tips on how to maximize your therapy experience! (This topic was way out of my comfort zone because I shared something so personal to me. But everyone was so kind and even shared some of there experiences with me!)
Planning IS self-care and the second volume explains why. I also shared how to audit your planning process and how to prep your planner for the coming week! (This was my favorite activity to talk about during this series. Planning is so therapeutic and relaxing so it makes sense as a self-care activity! If you don’t plan, today is a great day to start.)
Healthy skin is good skin! Volume 3 focuses on skin care as self-care. We talked about my favorite products and a few free skin care tips.
I could talk about self-care for the rest of the year and not run out of topics. For example, I didn’t address one of the most effective self-care activities for me: reading. I talked about my love for reading. Here are a few books that I’m reading right now:
1) Unleash the Power of Storytelling by Rob Biesenbach
2) Lovecraft Country by Matt Ruff (I loved the show so much that I had to get the book. Also, Tic is fine.)
3) All Adults Here by Emma Straub (I like reading but it’s not often that I find a book that I simply can’t put down. This is it. I can’t put this book down! The characters are so flawed yet intriguing.)
I love reading multiple books at one time because I can jump in and out of books to address my needs. Don’t feel like you have to read one book at a time! If you’re worried about forgetting the details, re-read the last few pages where you left off to jog your memory!
You can also check out my new series, Escape with Imani, where I share books and shows that help me escape reality. Self-care is always the goal! Check out the first volume of Escape with Imani here.
I’ll let you in on a little secret: I love self-care so much that I’m featuring it as part of my content series for October! BUT we’re talking about a very different area of self-care. So stay tuned!
In the meantime, what books are you reading right now?
