National Read a Book Day (Book Recommendations)
Sunday, September 6 is National Read a Book Day!
If you know me or read this post, you know that I absolutely love reading. This year, I plan to celebrate by finishing Untamed by Glennon Doyle. How will you celebrate?
Book Recommendations
Here are a few book recommendations if you’re looking for a new book to start:
-
City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert (My favorite book that I read in 2019! City of Girls is a fiction story that follows the journey of a young lady as she moves from her parents' house to go live with her aunt in New York City. The characters and storyline are captivating. Check it out!)
-
Red at the Bone by Jacqueline Woodson
-
The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America by Richard Rothstein
-
Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates
-
Black Leopard, Red Wolf by Marlon James (I'll admit that I haven't finished this book. But I am working through it! I usually don't read sci-fi books but I am excited for the challenge.)
-
The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett
-
Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption by Bryan Stevenson (This book was a hard read. I am sensitive so I connect with books and characters easily. As a result, this book angered me so I had to take breaks when reading it.)
-
Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng (I watched the series first and loved it so much that I wanted to read the book. Per usual, the book is amazing!)
-
Lovecraft Country by Matt Ruff (If you follow me on Instagram, you know I love the show. This website should double as a Jonathan Majors fan account. Just kidding...)
-
The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware (I highly recommend Ruth Ware if you're looking for mystery books to read!)
How will you celebrate National Read a Book Day? I love reading coffee while drinking a book, so check out this post for my coffee recommendations.
Happy Reading!
