Meet Imani: A Re-Introduction
Can you believe the last time I introduced myself was July 31? Since then this community has blossomed. So the time is right for a re-introduction!
Instead of boring you with information you can read here, I thought I'd share a few bizarre and odd facts about me. Let's begin!
1) I used to be afraid of the Chuck E. Cheese mascot.
My parents took me and eventually my siblings to Chuck E. Cheese throughout our childhoods. But it wasn't until my early teens that I developed a fear of the mascot. When the mascot came out to sing happy birthday, I couldn't be in the dining hall section of the building. I have no idea where this fear came from or why the fear manifested at my big age of 13, but there it was. The mascot creeped me out!
2) I'm the oldest, but shortest, sibling.
I'm the oldest out of four kids, yet somehow I get to be the shortest. My sister and two brothers tower over me because I'm only 5'1. (In fact, I'm the shortest person in my entire family.) Luckily, my personality makes up for my lack of height.
3) I can't sleep with the bedroom door open but I also can't sleep in the dark.
I cannot sleep with any open doors. The bedroom and closet doors have to be shut before I can even close my eyes.
This fact is odd, but think about it! Imagine if a burglar broke into your house. Sleeping with the door closed puts a barrier (albeit a small one) between you and the intruder. The closed door gives you more time to respond.
While I can't sleep with open doors, I also can't sleep in the dark. I need a little light to see! So I typically keep my blinds partially open so light from the moon can peak through.
4) I have a fear of smells.
I get my strong sense of smell from my dad. Our noses are super sensitive! We can sniff out scents before the other people in our nuclear family. The downside to this gift is that I don't like things that smell bad. I don't think the fear is strong enough to call it osmophobia, but a bad smell will definitely distract me from any task that I'm completing.
That's it! Those are a few bizarre facts about me as part of this re-introduction. In the comments below, let me know one fact about you!
